Maintenance-free Large Spherical Plain Bearings are frequently used due to the installation situation and environmental protection considerations. Special fabric solutions (with PTFE content and other additives) guarantee a long service life and correspondingly high load ratings. However, composite solutions paired with stainless steel inner or outer rings are also conceivable (e.g. for applications in seawater). Spherical Plain Bearings that require maintenance, i.e. can be relubricated, are only used under particular dirt or dust loads or under particularly extreme environmental and climatic conditions.
